COVID Education Alliance
Lieve Fransen
Since leaving the Commission in May 2015, I became a senior policy advisor with a range of different institutions, businesses and think thanks. I advised the CEO of the Royal Philips health technology company and the UN on the development of a global strategy to implement the SDGs with private sector in Africa and globally. President Prodi asked me to head an expert group and co-author a high-level report on investing in social infrastructure. That report received the blessing of Vice President Katainen and became an inspiration for the creation of investEU and the social window in it. I advise T20/G20 on manufacturing of vaccines for Covid 19 worldwide. I work with the social infrastructure investment fund of Franklin Templeton. I co-created the platform for transformative technologies or P4TT and the alliance for education in a time of Covid or Covidea. I supported Olafur Elliasson in developing a way to increase access to light for children in off grid regions in the world with his little sun initiative. I received a life achieving award for health and human rights in India and several awards for my work on health and HIV globally. Before 2015 I worked for 23 years in the European Commission at senior management level in a range of policy areas, from development, trade, communication and social policies. I am a medical doctor specialized in global public health and social policies worldwide. I have a PhD in social policies from Antwerp.
